We’ve grazed upon the Acura RDX 2020 as one of our entries in the top 9 fastest SUVs for under $40,000, in which we speak about its performance, design, and others stuff. And fast forward a couple of months later, here comes Acura with its newest RDX model for 2023.
Now, Acura has been pretty tight-lipped with the next model in the RDX lineup series, but here’s what we know so far, including some sneak-peek of the car’s prototype.
Table of Contents
What’s New?
One of the most exciting things for the upcoming Acura RDX would definitely be the design. As far as the prototype leaks go, Acura RDX will be sporting a whole new front and rear fascia.
It’ll also rock the unique floating roof on top as well as new square-shaped exhaust tips.

2023 Acura RDX Redesign
We kind of already explained the new redesigned exterior paragraph above. Still, there could definitely be some new addition to them, as the ones above are what we can gather from the spied prototype leak of the 2023 Acura RDX.
But whatever those changes are, we’re positive that they’ll only make the RDX lineup even sexier and sharp.
Interior & Features
Not only does it have a sexy exterior, but the 2023 RDX will also most likely sports a luxurious and elegant interior with tons of features that’ll make your ride even more comfortable than before.
This is because it has a very roomy 2-row/5-seater cabin that provides comfort for the first row and plenty of legroom for those in the second row.
It also offers more than 30 cubic feet of space behind the last row of the seats and can be expanded to 78.9 cubic feet with the seat folded.
As for the technology, Acura is not kidding around with this model with at least a 10.2” infotainment display with True Touchpad interface technology coupled with an ultra-wide panoramic moonroof, heated adjustable front seats, WiFi, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrated.
Size & Dimensions
Since this is a continuation of the RDX series, we can expect the size and dimensions of this car to be very similar or even identical to its predecessor.
So, expect this car to be 186 in length, 76” in width, and 65” in height. Which for an SUV this class, isn’t all that bad.
Engine Specs
Considering that a 272-hp turbocharged 2.0l four-cylinder powertrain powers the previous RDX, we’re expecting a similar engine to power the 2023 model, but with some slight improvements here and there.
We’re guessing that, at the very least, it’ll be able to have more than 275 hp turbocharged engine as its powertrain for the base trim.
Performance, Fuel Economy & Towing Capacity
Using the previous model as an example, the 2021 RDX reaches 0-to-60 in a measly 6.6 seconds, making it one of the fastest SUVs in its price range. The 2023 model itself should theoretically have better 0-to-60 if it actually comes out with an engine that has more than 272 hp in it.
As for its fuel economy, we’re expecting the 2023 Acura RDX to score 25 mpg for city driving and 28 mpg or even more for highway driving.
Now, as for its towing capability, the RDX series wasn’t much of a rugged beast as other SUVs in the market, resulting in us expecting lower results for its tow capacity at around 1800 lbs for both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.

2023 Acura RDX Release Date & Price
Now all those things above being said, the release date for the 2023 model is certainly still far away from us. We’re expecting it to be released at the very earliest around Fall in 2021, but realistically speaking, it’ll probably come in Fall 2022.
And for the release price itself, we can expect it not to change all that much even compared to the 2021 model. So, expect the price to be around $42,000 or at most $48,000 for the base model.
The price will differ drastically, of course, when you add custom things or other trims for the product, but for the base model itself, we’re fairly confident.
Anyway, that’s all that we can say about this upcoming car. Acura’s RDX lineup has certainly caught many people’s attention with its sleek, modern, and sophisticated design for both its interior and exterior.
So, it’s not surprising that people like us are very excited about the 2023 model of said lineup, even when the release date is still so far away.
Enough of that though, what do you want to see in the 2023 RDX? Do you want more sexy looks? Or perhaps an improved comfort? Or maybe a more rugged body and engine to complete the car?
