Chevy’s Traverse has been known for its spacious cabin and comfy interior with decent fuel efficiency for what it’s worth. These two qualities alone make the Traverse a very decent choice for people looking for a good SUV that’s both comfortable and doesn’t break the bank with its fuel.
And now, in 2021, there have been rumors about the 2023 model of the Traverse, and after gathering most of the information available, here is everything we know so far.
Table of Contents
What’s New?
Despite having a comfortable and spacious cabin for up to 8 people, the 2022 model has been known to have one of the most lackluster interior designs, mainly due to its plasticky part.
As such, we can expect the 2023 model to zero in on this problem the most. We’re expecting a redesign of the interior for the base model to make it more in line with its competitor’s design choices.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Redesign
The exterior for the new model will almost inevitably end up the same as its predecessor, so there’s not much for us to talk about.
We’re probably only be seeing some neat little updates here and there, such as new headlights, sunroof, rear and back fascia, those kinds of things.
Interior & Features
In the “What’s New?” section, we mentioned that this Chevy would have to revise a lot of its interior design, and we meant it and stood by it. As such, we’re expecting a more luxurious material for its interior parts, something like leather instead of the plasticky parts they’re using right now.
But other than that, Chevy’s Traverse is known for its comfort for its passengers and drivers with a spacious cabin, plenty of legroom, and many, many seats available.
As for its interior feature themselves, the Traverse is also known to be a tech-savvy SUV, to begin with, so we can expect Chevy to continue this trend with the 2023 model, featuring an even more improved infotainment display, many USB ports, and maybe even a sound system in there.
Chevy traverse is known as one of the roomiest SUVs out there. It also has a superb cargo volume, 98.2 cubic feet, perfect for you who need big space to haul your gear. If you plan a long trip, the Chevy Traverse is also a great vehicle to sleep in.
Size & Dimensions
Since there probably won’t be any meaningful changes to its exterior design, we can expect 2023 Traverse to have almost the same measurements for its length, width, and height.
Lenght | 204.3 in. |
Height | 70.7 in. |
Width | 78.6 in. |
Cargo Space | 23.0 cu.ft |
Gross Weight | 6160 lbs |
Maximum Cargo capacity | 98.2 cu.ft |
Maximum Towing Capacity | 5000 lbs |
Wheel Base | 120.9 in. |
Front Head Room | 41.3 in. |
Front Hip Room | 58.1 in. |
Front Leg Room | 41.0 in. |
Front Shoulder Room | 62.1 in. |
As you can on the table above, this SUV is pretty high, which is why I named Traverse as one of the best SUVs for tall drivers.
So, if you’re curious about the sizes and dimensions for next year’s model, there’s your answer. It may differ here and there, but it should still be pretty consistent.

Engine Specs, Performance and Fuel Economy
While for its engine, Chevy’s Traverse is already a strong contender for one of the best performers with the powertrain inside it.
And to be honest, there’s not much reason for Chevrolet to change it either for next year’s model. As such, we’re expecting the 2023 Traverse to use the standard 3.6L V6 engine that can output up to 310 horsepower, paired with 9-speed automatic transmission.
Since we assume that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will use the same engine like this year’s Traverse, we can confidently say that it’ll also have the same scores for 0-60 mph, fuel economy, and towing tests. Maybe with a little bit of improvement.
Engine Type | Gasoline |
Transmission | 9-speed shiftable automatic |
Drive Type | All-wheel drive |
Cylinder | V6 |
Base Engine Size | 3.6 l |

Chevy traverse awarded 2021 IIHS Top Safety Pick & 5-star overall vehicle score for stay. No wonder because Traverse has a long list of safety features. Including:

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Release Date & Price
And finally, let’s talk about the release date and price of this car. Considering that the 2022 model was just released last August, we expect the same for the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse base model. while the RS and High country versions will be available in early 2023.
It’ll most likely come in Fall 2021, just like we said above, and for its price for the base model itself, we probably won’t get that much of a jump from the previous model also.
The Traverse series from Chevy has been somewhat affordable to most people, and it’d be a missed opportunity for Chevy not to continue the trend. So, expect the car to start somewhere around $36,000 or $38,000.
Anyway, that’s all for this article on the rumored 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. This one car has been one of the best performers for its fuel economy efficiency, and we very much hope that it will continue with the 2023 model.
So, what do you think? Is there any wish list you wish the 2023 Chevy Traverse to have? Are you expecting even more performance and fuel economy? Or are you on the side of wanting a redesign interior and exterior of the car?
Let us know in the comments about your thoughts because honestly, speculating these things about our favorite cars has become one of our favorite pastimes in the office. Either way, we’ll see you next time. Bye!
